Louisiana Right to Life’s annual PULSE Leadership Institute at the Bishop Tracy Center in Baton Rouge is set for June 18-22. High school and college students are invited attend and dive into the pro-life cause. Sessions go beyond abortion into adoption, euthanasia, physician assisted suicide, human trafficking awareness, bioethics, third party reproduction, disability discrimination, and more.
Cost is $199 until June 1, when registration fee increases to $219.
Students will jump right into pro-life culture with Abortion 101 and Pro-Life Persuasion Training on the first and second days. On day 3 students will put their persuasion training into practice with hands-on activism on the LSU campus. There they will conduct surveys on abortion and man a pro-life table in Free Speech alley.
During the week there will also be feature presentations on Euthanasia by Bobby Schindler, President of Terri Schiavo Life & Hope Network; Third-Party Reproduction by Alana Newman, founder of The Anonymous Us Project; and Pro-Life Feminism by Destiny Herndon-de la Rosa, President and founder of New Wave Feminists.
Breakout sessions will cover topics like adoption, foster care, women’s health, Planned Parenthood, activism, leadership and pregnant on campus initiatives, and their will also be guys’ and girls’ sessions.
In addition to the comprehensive information students will receive, they will also gain in pro-life fellowship. With field trips to the Capitol and to play laser tag as well as small group discussion time and skits and the famous PULSE Coffeehouse, students will have a blast and leave the camp with countless number of inside jokes.
Students from across the state will brainstorm with each other to come up with other successful pro-life programs in their hometowns, and by the end of the week they will be inspired, activated, and empowered to take on leadership roles in existing pro-life clubs or be equipped to start clubs at their schools.
