Defenders of Life are legislators with a 100% Pro-Life Voting Record with Louisiana Right to Life who have exhibited excellent leadership for life during the term. The following legislators are designated as our 2016-2019 Defenders of Life.
Representative Frank Hoffmann
Rep. Hoffmann authored five key pro-life bills during the 2016-2019 Term, including the 2016 Women’s Enhanced Reflection Act and Defunding Abortion Businesses Act. Rep. Hoffmann also was a willing participate in many pro-life efforts, such as Pro-Life Day at the Capitol and Bowties for Babies.
Representative Rick Edmonds
Rep. Edmonds authored three key pro-life bills during the 2016-2019 Term, including the 2018 Adoption Option Act. Rep. Edmonds also is a regular host for pro-life “PULSE” students visiting the Capitol.
Representative Katrina Jackson
Rep. Jackson authored two key pro-life bills during the 2016-2019 Term, including the 2019 Love Life Constitutional Amendment. She continues to be an outspoken advocate of her 2014 law, the Unsafe Abortion Protection Act, which remains in the federal court process.
Senator Beth Mizell
Sen. Mizell authored three key pro-life bills during the 2016-2019 Term and carried the Love Life Amendment on the Senate floor. During the 2019 session, Sen. Mizell boldly articulated on the Senate floor the dangers of the Equal Rights Amendment, leading to a pro-life vote defeating the amendment.
