Please note that due to the fluctuation of the schedule at the State Capitol, the times listed below are tentative. Please check back here in the days before the event to receive an updated time!
At this time, there are no pro-life bills being heard in Committee on Tuesday.
There will be a pro-life bill, the Expansion of Safe Haven Baby Box Act (HB 891), up for vote on the House Floor after the House convenes at 3pm. HB 891 allows for the installment of Safe Haven Baby Boxes in 24/7 fire stations and other similar facilities in addition to hospitals. The Safe Haven Baby Boxes are a last resort option for a mother to place her baby safely for adoption. Please lobby your representative to support this important legislation!
Overview of the day Between 9AM and 3PM:
- Witness bills being debated at the Capitol (contingent on Capitol schedule).
- Visit with pro-life agencies who will have tables set up in the Capitol Rotunda.
- Interact with and lobby your legislators for upcoming pro-life bills (we will provide you the list).
- Represent the pro-life state of Louisiana public during special pro-life day recognition on the House and/or Senate floor.
- And enjoy a slice of “Everyone Deserves a Birthday” Cake served by Louisiana Right to Life in the Capitol Rotunda!
- PLEASE WEAR BLUE!
** It is best that you contact your state legislator or their office in advance of Pro-Life Day at the Capitol to set up a meeting with them during the day. We will not be able to introduce every person to every legislator! You can click here to find out who your legislators are, and then use the list of Senators and Representatives at these links respectively to contact them directly.
- 9 AM & Later:
- Pro-Life Day at the Capitol begins.
- Louisiana Right to Life and pro-life agencies begin setting up pro-life booths in the Capitol Rotunda.
- You are welcome beginning at this time and any time afterwards to visit the Louisiana Right to Life table in the Capitol Rotunda to get the overview of the day’s activities and recommended talking points with legislators.
- You can also make appointments ahead of time to visit your state legislator. See the information above.
- 11:30 – 1 PM Lunch
- Lunch will be held in the State Capitol. Please RSVP below to attend. If the committee hearing runs over, the lunch schedule could be effected.
- 1 – 3 PM
- We will head back into the Capitol Rotunda for birthday cake and recognition of pro-life pregnancy centers on the House and/or Senate floor. We expect the Senate will convene at 2 PM and the House to convene at 3 PM in their respective chambers and recognition of Pro-Life Day at the Capitol will occur at some point between 2 and 3 PM or later.
