Charlotte recently reached out to her local pregnancy center in a moment of real worry. She had fallen behind on her gas bill and was unsure when her service would be disconnected. Facing the possibility of losing heat and hot water for herself, her young child, and her new baby, tremendous stress was added to an already difficult situation.
Through our Emergency Assistance Grant, we were able to step in quickly and cover her utility payment. This support ensured that her gas remained on and her home stayed safe and warm so she could focus on her health and her baby rather than a looming shutoff notice.

Maddie was in between jobs, and her family had been struggling for weeks to make ends meet. Everything became even harder for them when income they depended on was delayed, leaving them unsure how they would cover their basic needs. As the pressure mounted, Maddie felt overwhelmed. She began to believe that abortion was her only option because she could not see a path forward for her family.
Yet even in that fear, she chose life with remarkable courage.
On day she reached out to her local pregnancy center, her rent was due the next morning. She had no resources left and no one else to turn to. Many feel intense pressure from outside circumstances, most often financial, that can convince them abortion is their only option. In fact, studies show that up to 70% of women who have abortions report feeling pressured or coerced.

A car repair, overdue rent, or tuition bill can become the deciding factor between choosing life and choosing abortion. While abortion facilities are closed here in Louisiana, abortion pills by mail remain a tragic and dangerous alternative that women are turning to in desperation.
