Dear Physicians,
There are claims being spread throughout Louisiana that our Human Life Protection Act that protects babies from elective abortion would prosecute doctors for providing the care necessary in ectopic pregnancies, life-threatening circumstances and emergencies, and miscarriage management. In response, we have published a statement signed and open to more signees by Obstetricians, Gynecologists, Obstetrician-Gynecologists, family medicine doctors, internal medicine doctors, emergency medicine doctors, and other physicians who specialize in caring for women and babies. This statement will help provide clarity on these and other matters and respond to a couple specific stories that have circulated perpetuating the confusion, including one submitted as an affidavit in court proceedings.
This statement is open to the media and public at large through a variety of communications and social media.
The public needs to hear from you that their necessary health care is not at risk. Please review the letter as soon as possible and consider adding your name.
