Louisiana Right to Life is happy to share that we are launching the Capitol Club for our constituents who want to be more involved with our activities at the Louisiana State Capitol. In 2026, we have six important pieces of legislation that will further the mission of protecting life and helping moms. The Louisiana Legislative Session begins Monday, March 9th with final adjournment no later than 6:00 pm on Monday, June 1st.
Since 2006, we are proud to have passed 74 pro-life laws including the Women’s Right to Know Act, the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, and our Human Life Protection Act, which effectively closed the state’s three abortion facilities in 2022.
By joining the Capitol Club you will receive the following:
$25 – Senate Committee: Allows LA Right to Life to submit 39 “memos” to Senators about a pro-life bill
$50 – House Committee: Allows LA Right to Life to submit 105 “memos” to Representatives about a pro-life bill
$100 – Senate Chamber: Allows LA Right to Life to update our session website with progress on a pro-life bill

Safe Haven Awareness Sign Act (HB 476) would require public middle schools and high schools in Louisiana to place informational signs about the Safe Haven Law on the backs of bathroom stalls. These signs would explain that a parent who is unable to care for a newborn can legally and safely surrender the baby at designated locations, or by calling 911, without facing criminal penalties. By placing this information in school bathrooms, the bill aims to ensure that teens have access to clear, private information about this option.

Every year Louisiana Right to Life works to ensure pregnancy centers receive funding through our state’s budget.

The Signs of Hope Act (HB 310) raises awareness in school health clinics among college and high school students about the public and private assistance available to pregnant and parenting mothers and their children.
Louisiana has an abundance of resources available to pregnant and parenting mothers and children. We want expecting mothers to know about these tremendous resources that can assist them and their baby.

Compassion in Miscarriage Terminology Act (HB 288) would require healthcare providers to include the word “miscarriage” in patient documents containing the term “spontaneous abortion”. By pairing the two terms, the bill aims to make medical documentation easier for patients to understand. For many families experiencing loss, the term “miscarriage” is the language they recognize.

SB 311 and SB 252 are Louisiana’s transplant reform bills that strengthen ethical safeguards while preserving the life-saving benefits of organ donation. These reforms ensure that donation happens only after death, with real consent and full transparency.Organ transplantation can save lives and is widely regarded as a generous act of charity. But a truly pro-life system must ensure that the dignity and protection of the donor is never compromised.
