Attorney General Jeff Landry Petitions Louisiana Supreme Court to Dissolve TRO from Hope Medical Group

New Orleans – On July 2nd, Attorney General Jeff Landry, on behalf of himself and

Louisiana Department of Health Secretary Courtney Phillips, filed an application to the Louisiana Supreme Court to dissolve the Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) preventing Landry and Secretary Phillips from enforcing Louisiana’s pro-life law.

The request is a response to a lawsuit filed by Hope Medical Group for Women in Shreveport against the 2006 Human Life Protection Act, as well as the recent 2022 Reaffirmation of Human Life Act

Benjamin Clapper, Executive Director of Louisiana Right to Life, said the following about the petition: “Louisiana is a pro-life state, and our laws reflect our citizen’s determination to protect life. We call upon the Louisiana Supreme Court to throw out this baseless lawsuit. It’s time Louisiana protects unborn babies from abortion.”
