Join us for the 2020 Proudly Pro-Life Gala, a special evening to celebrate 50 years of the pro-life movement in Louisiana! Scroll down to become a patron or purchase tickets.
Louisiana and New Orleans Right to Life were founded in 1970, three years before abortion was legalized in America. In 2020, we will commemorate 50 years of defending life and helping mothers in New Orleans and across Louisiana.
This special event will be held at the Hyatt Regency in downtown New Orleans (next to the Superdome) and will replace the traditional Proudly Pro-Life Dinner held in Kenner each January. The event is sponsored by both Louisiana and New Orleans Right to Life. Download Gala Overview, Including Paper Registration Form
Louisiana and New Orleans Right to Life are proud to honor Republican Whip Steve Scalise, Congressman for Louisiana’s 1st Congressional District, with the 2020 Proudly Pro-Life Award for his pro-life leadership and dedication throughout his public service.
Scalise served in the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1996 – 2008 and briefly in the Louisiana Senate. During his time in Baton Rouge, Scalise maintained a 100% pro-life voting record and assisted in the passage of many pro-life laws.
After being elected in 2008 to represent the 1st Congressional District of Louisiana in the U.S. House of Representatives, Scalise has been a vocal leader for the pro-life cause. After becoming the Majority Whip in 2014, Scalise orchestrated the passage of many pro-life bills through the House of Representatives. Recently, Scalise has passionately led the effort to pass the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act in Congress.
Scalise never runs from the defense of the pro-life mission. Through local and national media, Scalise passionately and articulately defends his pro-life action.
Congressman Scalise is appearing on this invitation only as an honored guest and is not soliciting funds on behalf of Louisiana and New Orleans Right to Life.
We are excited to announce that our guest speaker for the evening will be actor and producer Kirk Cameron. Kirk has been a part of the national landscape since starring as Mike Seaver in the hit sitcom “Growing Pains,” which aired on ABC from 1985 to 1992. That role turned him into a cultural icon with his mullet hairstyle, cool sunglasses and wisecracking comebacks. Since then he’s appeared in and produced numerous television events and movies. Kirk and his wife, Chelsea, who met on the set of “Growing Pains,” have six children, four of whom are adopted. Kirk and Chelsea, who is adopted herself, are passionate pro-life and adoption advocates.
“I am excited to come to New Orleans to help celebrate Louisiana Right to Life’s 50th Anniversary,” Cameron said. “As adoptive parents, your mission and innovative methods move me and my wife, Chelsea, deeply. Thank you for what you are doing to promote the beauty of adoption and life in Louisiana and beyond!”
Abortion was illegal in Louisiana in 1970. Alarmingly, a few other states had recently liberalized their abortion laws. With this in mind, courageous men and women took up the cause of protecting life in Louisiana….
