New Orleans – Today, Congressman Mike Johnson (LA-4th District) was elected Speaker of the United States House of Representatives. Congressman Johnson has been a strong and consistent pro-life leader, with a 100% pro-life voting record both in the Louisiana Legislature and in Congress.
Benjamin Clapper, the Executive Director for Louisiana Right to Life (LARTL), said the following about Congressman Johnson: “We are thrilled that Congressman Mike Johnson has been elected Speaker of the House. Congressman Johnson is a close friend and ally of Louisiana Right to Life. Together with his wife Kelly, Mike has led many pro-life efforts with us, including our Life March in Shreveport that garners thousands of participants each year. Prior to becoming a State Representative, he served as Louisiana Right to Life’s Legal Counsel. ”

Speaker Johnson is the first Louisiana Congressman to be elected Speaker of the House.
