LARTL in D.C. To Urge Congress to Defund Planned Parenthood

Today, Sarah Zagorski, Louisiana Right to Life’s Communications Director, and Trinity Wicker, Youth Director of Louisiana Black Advocates for Life, joined hundreds of Americans at the nation’s Capitol in Washington, D.C. to urge Congress to defund Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood is America’s largest abortion business, performing nearly 400,000 abortions annually while raking in over $699,000,000 in federal funds per year.

Sarah Zagorski said the following, “Planned Parenthood ends human life in the womb without reservation and weaponizes the vulnerability of women in crisis situations for their own financial interest. In America, they receive well-over half a billion in tax dollars, even though they do 400,000 abortions every year. It is patently unfair to the millions and millions of pro-life taxpayers to continue this travesty. It is time for Congress to separate abortion businesses from our tax dollars by defunding Planned Parenthood!”

Zagorski continued, “As we urge Congress to defund Planned Parenthood, it is essential to remember that every non-abortion legitimate health service for women is already available at Parish Health Units and Federally Qualified Health Centers across Louisiana.”

The insistence to defund Planned Parenthood also comes on the heels of an expose in the New York Times showing the decrepit and “factory-like conditions” in Planned Parenthood locations across America.

Louisiana Right to Life is thankful for our strong pro-life leaders in Congress: Speaker Mike Johnson (District 4), Majority Leader Steve Scalise (District 1), Congressman Clay Higgins (District 3), Congresswoman Julia Letlow (District 5) and U.S. Senators Bill Cassidy and John Kennedy.
