This resolution urged the United States Congress to defund Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest provider of abortions. 
The resolution passed, and was sent to the Secretary of State.

2. Protecting the Disabled and Ill from Euthanasia Act (2012)

This act strengthens Louisiana’s protections against assisted suicide and euthanasia and was an initiative of the LARTL Center for Medical Ethics, directed by Ryan Verret.

3. Criminal Abortion Dismemberment Act (2012)

Criminalizes the act of performing an abortion where the abortionist is not a licensed physician. Creates a specific crime for performing an abortion (the dismemberment of an unborn child) in the state of Louisiana if the abortionist is not licensed to practice medicine in Louisiana. This legislation clarifies the law and provides the District Attorney more ability to prosecute illegal abortionists.

4. Viable and Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act (2012)

Based on the viability of the unborn child, the ability of the child to feel pain, and the documented risks to women’s health, the act prohibits abortions at or after twenty (20) weeks post-fertilization.

5. Hear the Heartbeat Act (2012)

Vote on Final Passage; LARTL Supported
Required that notice and election form be provided to, the fetal heartbeat be made audible to, and ultrasound images be displayed for the review by, a pregnant woman prior to an abortion. Based on the recent 5th Circuit decision, the Hear the Heartbeat Act requires the abortionist to make the heartbeat of the unborn child audible to the woman prior to an abortion if the heartbeat can be registered on the fetal Doppler monitor, typically estimated at six (6) weeks post-fertilization.

6. Resolution Urging an Investigation of Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast (2013)

Urged various state departments to freeze state contracts with Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast while inquiries are being conducted into possible violations of state law and alleged Medicaid fraud. 
Resolution passed, and an investigation was ordered into Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast’s Medicaid billing.

7. Resolution Urging an Investigation of Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast (2013)

Companion bill to SCR 57. During the process of these resolutions, Abby Johnson, a former Director of a Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast facility in Texas, testified before the House Health and Welfare Committee, exposing in dramatic fashion the truth about Planned Parenthood’s abortion quota.
Resolution passed, and an investigation was ordered into Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast’s Medicaid billing.

8. Strict Regulation on Abortion Facilities Act (2013)

Gives the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals the authority to shut down an abortion facility which employs a person who is not a board-certified OB/GYN physician to perform abortions. SB 90 also bans the dangerous practice of tele-medicine abortions, in which women are prescribed abortion-inducing medications via teleconference even though the abortionist is not physically present with the woman.

9. Coerced Abortion as Child Abuse Act (2013)

10. Unsafe Abortion Protection Act (2014)

Requires abortionists to have admitting privileges within thirty miles of their facility, clarifies that the “Women’s Right to Know” law applies to chemical, as well as surgical abortions, and requires doctors who perform more than five abortion a year to maintain proper licensing.

11. Protecting Louisiana Children from the Abortion Industry Act (2014)

Provides that no representative of a business or organization that performs abortion may provide instruction in schools that receive state funding. This will ensure that organizations with financial interest in abortion, like Planned Parenthood, cannot teach children in our state.

12. Point of Rescue Act (2014)

Ensures that women, prior to an abortion, are provided with life-saving information about the harmful psychological impacts of abortion, and on the availability of resources to help women escape the sex trafficking industry.

13. Public Information Concerning Down Syndrome Act (2014)

14. Protecting Terminally Ill Patients Act (2014)
HB 1254; Authored by Rep. Scott Simon
Vote on Final Passage; LARTL Supported 
Prohibits insurance companies from denying treatment based on a person’s life expectancy or condition. Plans should cover any treatment or service recommended for a terminally ill patient in the same manner as if the patient had not been declared terminally ill. HB 1254 essentially disallows the terminally ill state from becoming a discriminatory factor in the coverage decision.

15. Louisiana Prenatal Non-Discrimination Act (2015)

Vote on Final Passage; LARTL Supported 
Prohibits sex-selective abortion in Louisiana. This bill would have protected unborn females from deadly discrimination. 
Bill passed the House with overwhelming bipartisan support, but was killed in an unfavorable Senate committee.
