The Black Advocates for Life team partnered with Pro-Black Pro-Life organization for a Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Tour at Southern University’s campus in Baton Rouge. This was Pro-Black Pro-Life’s first stop on their nationwide tour. Speakers included Gloria Purvis, Cherilyn Holloway and Christine Bennett.

After the panel session, the team went to do outreach to campus students. Black Advocates for Life brought our College Exhibit to display on campus. Ashley Gilliam, our Youth Programs Director, joined them and spoke to hundreds of students. Students were interested in learning about the mission of Black Advocates for Life, the anatomy of the unborn person and resources available in their community. 

Tara Wicker, our Capitol Region Director also attended and spoke with the panelists and students. Ashley spoke to the students specifically about abortion’s impact on the African American community, citing that abortion kills more of their population than any diseases or car accidents combined.
