WASHINGTON, D.C. –
Erica Inzina, J.D., Policy Director for Louisiana Right to Life, has issued the following statement:
“Louisiana Right to Life applauds Attorney General Murrill for her consistent commitment to enforcing Louisiana’s pro-life laws, holding accountable those who unabashedly break them, and educating the public and policy makers on the dangers of mail-order abortion. We are also grateful to Senator Cassidy for his leadership and initiative to call and lead this committee hearing.
Today’s hearing illustrates how far abortion advocates are willing to stretch to maintain the status quo and keep perpetuating this harm on women across our nation. From evading questions to changing the topic, one thing is clear: they do not want to address the elephant in the room which is that this entire scheme is irresponsible, dangerous, and unlawful.
It is past time for states to hold the medical professionals behind this operation accountable. Regardless of a doctor’s physical location, the sale and distribution of abortion pills for elective abortion is expressly prohibited in Louisiana. These pills are, by design, fatal to unborn children and often cause harm to the women who take them. We are aware of multiple examples of women who were forced to take these pills by partners or family members who obtained them illegally online. Doctors who sell drugs with no patient interaction and at the simple submission of an online request form are not practicing healthcare – they are dealing drugs. You can’t simply rubberstamp the deadly combination of criminal behavior and medical malpractice by calling it “telehealth”. In no other context would this be acceptable or ignored.”
Women who have been harmed by abortion deserve a safe place to share their story and seek justice. www.AbortionImpact.com allows those who have been harmed by abortion to share their story.
