Today, according to eyewitnesses, state officials entered Delta Clinic in Baton Rouge and Hope Medical Group for Women in Shreveport, two abortion facilities in Louisiana that have remained open in defiance of Louisiana Department of Health orders to postpone all medical and surgical procedures (except emergencies) during the COVID-19 pandemic that has left more than 650 of the state’s residents dead and healthcare workers facing an extreme shortage of personal protective equipment.

Representatives at the Attorney General’s office confirmed that members of AG Jeff Landry’s COVID19 Task Force visited the two sites today.

Benjamin Clapper, Executive Director of Louisiana Right to Life, said the following upon hearing of the state investigation today: “Abortion facilities must play by the same rules as the rest of the medical field. There should be no abortion loopholes to the health and safety regulations needed to fight COVID-19. These abortion facilities are endangering us all and placing their profits over public health. We are grateful to the Attorney General’s office for taking necessary steps to investigate these violations of emergency rules.”

Separate eyewitnesses also reported that Women’s Health Care Center, the outpatient abortion facility in New Orleans, was also open for business today.
