5th Circuit Rejects FDA’s Approval of Mail-Order Abortion Drugs

Today, the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals found that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) violated the law when they removed safety standards for chemical abortion pills by permitting them to be sent through the mail without physician oversight.

Benjamin Clapper, Executive Director of Louisiana Right to Life, said the following about the decision: “It was exceedingly reckless for the FDA to permit these drugs to be dispersed through the mail without physician oversight. The majority of Americans reject providing abortion-inducing drugs to be sent through the mail because of the health and safety concerns that women could face.”

Louisiana Right to Life looks forward to the Supreme Court’s review.
