All Abortion Bills Defeated at LA Capitol!

On Tuesday, May 7th, all four bills that would weaken our pro-life law were defeated in the House Criminal Justice committee. We are thankful for our pro-life legislators and their commitment to protect unborn life!

Below is a list of the bills that were defeated:

  • HB 293 by Rep. Freeman: HB 293 would have weakened our pro-life law by changing category of legal intent.
  • HB 164 by Rep. Boyd: HB 164 would legalize abortion in cases of rape & incest without police report.
  • HB 63 and 56 by Rep. Newell would have unnecessarily modified portions of abortion law.

Here are the legislators that voted against HB 293, HB 164, HB 63 and HB 56:

  • Debbie Villio, Kenner, (504) 468-8603
  • Vincent Cox III, Gretna, (504) 361-6013
  • Lauren Ventrella, Greenwell Springs, (225) 361-4318

Rep. Boyd’s bill that would legalize rape and incest was overwhelming defeated after two individuals conceived in rape testified that their lives matter! Dustin Bertrand was born and raised in Louisiana, and was conceived after his mother was date raped. Dr. Sally Ball was conceived after her birth mother was raped by her uncle. Today, Dr. Ball travels the world helping victims of sexual violence, and Dustin travels across Louisiana reaching young people through his preaching ministry.

Additionally, HB 245 by Rep. Freeman (Abortion-Until-Birth Act)  was defeated in April. HB 245 was a radical pro-abortion constitutional amendment that legalizes abortion and requires tax-payer funding of abortion. We are thrilled that our main-abortion bills have been defeated, but humbly remember we must continue working to protect babies and help moms.
