Alveda King at Baton Rouge Life March South and Southern University!

Alveda King Speaks at Baton Rouge Life March 2025

The Baton Rouge Life March, presented by the Louisiana Black Advocates for Life, was a powerful demonstration of unity and purpose, bringing together advocates from across the state to stand in one voice and declare “That Every Life Is Worth Living”.

Beginning on the front lawn of the Louisiana State Capitol with a stirring opening prayer from Bishop Michael Duca, participants marched through downtown Baton Rouge, culminating at Galvez Plaza with an electrifying opening by Father Josh Johnson of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

With signs, prayers, and uplifting chants, attendees showed their unwavering commitment to supporting life-affirming policies that provide resources for mothers and families in need.

A highlight of the event was the keynote address by Alveda King, whose inspiring speech encouraged attendees to continue their advocacy with love, joy, and strength. Dr. King’s powerful and heartfelt message resonated deeply, emphasizing the importance of building a culture that protects and values every human life.

King’s  vibrant spirit and unwavering joy served as a call to action for all present, reminding them of the power of faith and perseverance in the movement for life.  She also spoke about her abortion regret and how she came to a pro-life conversion in the 1980’s and connected the eugenic nature of the abortion industry, which largely targets minority communities.

Afterward, King joined other pro-life advocates to speak at Southern University and share solidarity, hope, and  renewed commitment to the pro-life mission of protecting babies from abortion. WATCH media coverage of the Baton Rouge Life March here.
