Celebrating a Special Pro-Life African American During Black History Month

During Black History Month, who better to celebrate than pro-life activist Dr. Mildred Jefferson. Here are some things to know about her:
  • In 1951, Dr.Jefferson became the first African-American to graduate from Harvard Medical School.
  • Dr. Jefferson help found the National Right to Life Committee, becoming the organization’s vice president in 1973. She also served as president from 1975-1978.
  • Dr. Jefferson effectively changed President Ronald Reagan’s position on abortion. In a letter to her, he wrote, “You have made it irrefutably clear that an abortion is the taking of a human life, I am grateful to you.”
