Around the State

Several local life marches and walks for life are held around Louisiana each year. Please notify Louisiana Right Life at [email protected] with information on your local events to have them listed and publicized.

Following is what we know:

Diocese of Lafayette Diocesan Pro-Life Rally and March, Saturday, Jan. 18, 9 – 11:30 a.m. at Parc International, 200 Garfield St., Lafayette. The rally will begin at 9 a.m., and at 10:45 a.m. the march will be through Lafayette to the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. There, a prayer service, including adoration and benediction, will take place inside the Cathedral. The walk will then return back to Parc International with a stop to pray at the federal courthouse. St Joseph Catholic Church and St. Louis Chapel march in Parks, Sunday, Jan. 19. The march begins at 11:15 am, immediately after the 10 a.m. Holy Sacrifice of the Mass at St. Joseph and proceeds to St. Louis Church and parish center, where a meal will be shared. The distance is approximately 0.7 mile and should take about 20 minutes, during which a rosary for life will be prayed. All are welcome, please join us to defend the unborn. St. Landry Right to Life Walk, Saturday, Jan. 25, in Opelousas. Program begins at 10 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church, followed by the march that concludes with blessings and refreshments at Holy Ghost Catholic Church Parish Life Center. Contact: John and Jeri Miller, 337.948.9559.

Eunice Right to Life March, Wednesday, Jan. 22. March begins at noon at Picou’s Drug Store and ends at City Hall in Eunice, with prayers and speaker at City Hall. Contact: Sharon Fontenot @ 337.457.9660, Deacon David Guillory @ 337.457.8107, or Phyllis Pere 337.580.0195.

Ville Platte Pro Life Walk, Sunday, Jan. 19. Begins around noon after 10:30 a.m. Mass at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Church and proceeds to Sacred Heart Church with a guest speaker to follow. Transportation will be provided back to Our Lady

Slidell Life Walk Where: Starting at St. Margaret Mary Chuch parking lot (1050 Robert Blvd.)  When: Saturday, February 1, 2020. at 2:00 pm. Who: Anyone who believes in life. (friends included). Questions? Call Paul at (985) 646-3940. Ask for Paul.

Avoyelles Pro-Life March, Saturday, Jan. 18 at 9 a.m.  The march will start in the parking lot of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marksville and travel to the front steps of the Marksville courthouse. Prayers will be offered by various persons from the community interspersed by songs of faith and patriotism. The march will then continue to St. Joseph Church Hall next across the street from St. Joseph Church where it will end with a small reception in the hall. All persons are welcome to participate in the march to show their support for the sanctity of life. Sponsored by Avoyelles Right to Life.
