Meeting in Alexandria on Nov. 12, 583 messengers from Southern Baptist churches across Louisiana voted unanimously in favor of a resolution supporting the Love Life Amendment. Since the Louisiana Baptist Convention put this resolution to a vote of local church messengers from around the state, this action proves the overwhelming pro-life commitment of Louisiana Baptist leaders and church members across Louisiana.

The adopted resolution states: “Louisiana Baptists have declared our unwavering commitment to rescue and protect life from the womb through eternity. This commitment includes our pledge to continue to fight for the rights of the unborn and the care of their mothers. We unequivocally affirm that we are pro-life. We give our strongest possible endorsement of the Love Life Amendment and the constitutional protection it affords against unilateral actions to undo pro-life laws. We urge all eligible Louisiana Baptists to register and to vote for the Love Life Amendment and to encourage others to do likewise.”

The Love Life Amendment, which will make sure there is no right to abortion or the taxpayer funding of abortion in the state Constitution, will be on the Louisiana ballot on Nov. 3, 2020, the same day as the Presidential election.

Also at the annual meeting, Louisiana Right to Life hosted a pro-life breakfast for pastors and church leaders. Dr. Jamie Dew, new president of the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, spoke.
