Louisiana Right to Life Federation Congratulates Landry, Endorses Murrill for Attorney General

LA Legislature More Pro-life Than Ever Before

Today, Louisiana Right to Life Federation congratulates Governor-elect Jeff Landry on his election to Governor. In addition, Louisiana Right to Life Federation endorses Solicitor General Liz Murrill for Attorney General following the Louisiana primary.

Throughout Jeff Landry’s two terms as Attorney General of Louisiana, he has been the most pro-life Attorney General in Louisiana history, relentlessly defending Louisiana’s pro-life laws. As a Congressman, Landry has a 100% pro-life record.

Benjamin Clapper, Executive Director of Louisiana Right to Life, said the following about the Gubernatorial election and Liz Murrill’s endorsement: “Governor-elect Jeff Landry has been strongly pro-life throughout his life, and we are thrilled that he will serve as Louisiana’s next Governor. We look forward to Governor-elect Landry protecting life and expanding assistance for moms in Louisiana!

As Solicitor General, Liz Murrill has passionately defended Louisiana pro-life laws in both state and federal court, including before the U.S. Supreme Court. In fact, due to Liz’s work of going above and beyond for life, Louisiana Right to Life presented Liz with the 2022 Leadership for Life Award.”

Clapper concluded: “Contrastingly, her opponent, Lindsey Cheek, supports abortion-on-demand. We are proud to endorse Liz Murrill for Attorney General. Liz is a champion for life who is committed to protecting babies and helping women. Liz has shown that she is a well-qualified legal expert who will represent Louisiana as an excellent Attorney General.

Lindsey Cheek, however, is too extreme for Louisiana. If elected, she will be the most pro-abortion Attorney General in Louisiana history. Louisiana could expect that Cheek would be the same type of Attorney General as Kamala Harris was in California.”

Sarah Zagorski, the Communications Director for Louisiana Right to Life, also commented on the election: “In addition to the success for the pro-life movement in statewide elections, the Louisiana Legislature became more pro-life than it was before the primary election. A number of newly-elected candidates in both the House and Senate are more pro-life than previous members who resigned or were term-limited.”
