Mass for Life in New Orleans Draws Hundreds to Pray for the Supreme Court

This summer, the nation waits for the Dobbs v. Jackson decision which could overturn Roe v. Wade and therefore make abortion illegal in Louisiana. In a spirit of prayer and hope, more than 200 pro-life Louisianians came together at St. Dominic Church in New Orleans to celebrate the Mass for Life, sponsoried by the Archdiocese of New Orleans and Louisiana Right to Life.

Our Executive Director Benjamin Clapper Addresses Parishioners at Mass for Life

The Mass, which took place on June 10th, was celebrated by Archbishop Gregory Aymond, and Father Ajani Gibson gave a moving homily about the dignity of all human life. Father Ajani pointed out that we must all be like the Good Samaritan and reach out to those who most need our help, including the unborn child.

At the close of the liturgy, LARTL Executive Director Benjamin Clapper spoke to the congregation about the future of the pro-life cause in Lousiana, stating that our work will not come to an end, but shift towards continuing to support mothers, fathers, and children in need.

Clapper pointed out that even if abortion is made illegal in Louisiana with the overturn of Roe, we are only one legislative session or one generation away from a turn back towards legal abortion in Louisiana.

As we wait with watchful eyes and hopeful hearts for the Dobbs decision, let us continue to pray everyday for our Supreme Court justices and all that work to protect and assist the unborn and their families.

Afterward attendees enjoyed a reception with the Archdiocese of New Orleans and Louisiana Right to Life.
