New Orleans – Today, Governor John Bel Edwards announced that 70,000 state employees will be offered six weeks of paid parental leave after the birth of a child, adoption, or addition of a child through foster-care. Prior to the change, state employees were only promised unpaid leave.
Benjamin Clapper, the Executive Director for Louisiana Right to Life, said the following about the new policy: “We are happy that parental leave is now provided to state employees to help give support when welcoming a new child into their home. We know that supporting families is important to helping Louisiana parents raise healthy children.” |
