Pro-Life Voices: Why I’m Pro-Life

Guest blogger Kevin Harp shares his pro-life motivation!

Why am I pro‑life? For me, the answer is simple: it’s what my Lord and Savior calls me to be above all else.

As a devout Catholic, I’ve prayed for an end to abortion for many years, but I’ve come to realize that prayer must also be paired with action. I began attending the March for Life in Lake Charles, where I’ve heard powerful testimonies – women who once chose abortion and are now pro‑life, and individuals
conceived in rape whose mothers courageously chose to carry them to term.

The Lord gave us the commandment “Thou shalt not kill,” and I believe that extends to the unborn—those who cannot speak for themselves and need others to stand up on their behalf. My wife and I lost our first child to miscarriage, an experience that devastated us and nearly broke our marriage.

Through healing and God’s grace, we were later blessed with two children. Because of that journey, the idea of voluntarily ending the life of an unborn child feels deeply wrong to me.

I want to do whatever I can to educate those considering abortion and help them see that choosing life, carrying a pregnancy to term and giving that child a chance, is the right path. Every child deserves a birthday.
