Senator Pressly’s Bill Targets Abortion by Fraud
Current Situation is a Result of Biden’s Reckless Policies

Baton Rouge – Today, State Senator Thomas Pressly (R-Shreveport) issued a press release on X announcing details of his new legislation, SB 276, the Abortion By Fraud Criminalization Act. Senator Pressly shares the heart-wrenching story of how his own sister was the target of poisoning with an abortion drug by her then husband.

Benjamin Clapper, Executive Director of Louisiana Right to Life, said the following after Senator Pressly’s release, “We applaud Senator Pressly for taking action to hold accountable those individuals looking to poison a pregnant woman with an abortion pill against her will. SB 276 creates a new crime of “coerced criminal abortion by means of fraud” to give law enforcement proper means to prosecute those who use deceit and manipulation to harm pregnant women and their unborn children. The story of Senator Pressly’s sister is a reminder that the illegal distribution of abortion pills – whether by individuals or a sophisticated network of providers – demands the attention and action of law enforcement.”

“Furthermore, the plight of Senator Pressly’s sister is the result of the Biden Administration’s reckless policy to allow abortion pills to be distributed online without an in-person doctor’s visit. It is too easy for men intent on ending the life of an unborn baby, often against the will of the pregnant woman, to acquire abortion pills. We call on the Supreme Court to rein the Biden Administration in for this dangerous policy.”

SB 276 would not alter existing policy of the state that a woman taking the abortion pill cannot be prosecuted.
