TRO Lifted, Louisiana Pro-Life Laws in Effect!

This afternoon Civil Judge Ethel Simms Julien ruled that the plaintiffs for Hope Medical Group for Women had improper venue and transferred the case to East Baton Rouge Parish courts. The plaintiffs requested extension of the Temporarily Restraining Order, however Judge Julien denied the motion because she no longer has jurisdiction.

Benjamin Clapper, Executive Director of Louisiana Right to Life, said the following about today’s proceeding. “We are happy that Louisiana pro-life laws are back being enforced protecting babies from abortion. We thank Judge Julien for her fair and impartial of Louisiana law. It is disappointing that the abortion business wasted time and taxpayer dollars in this lawsuit. It was evident they knew this outcome was likely because they had already prepareted a request to extend the TRO if the decision was made. While we expect further legal proceedings in Baton Rouge, we look forward to our laws prevailing in Louisiana.”
