Abortion Survivor Claire Culwell Speaking at Chers Bébés in October

Claire Culwell

Abortion survivor Claire Culwell will be the guest speaker at Chers Bébés: Acadiana’s Soirée for Life, on Thursday, Oct. 24, at Cathedral Hall in Lafayette.

The sixth annual Chers Bébés, sponsored by Acadiana Right to Life and Louisiana Right to Life, benefits the Dr. Zerben Bienvenu and Dr. William Smith Fund for Acadiana Pro-Life Education, dedicated to the pro-life education of middle and high school students across Acadiana through interactive presentations and activities.

The event begins at 7 p.m. Sponsorships are available, and table hosts are being sought.

Those who attend the event will hear the story of how Claire met her birth mother in 2009 and was told her life was a miracle, as she survived the abortion that took the life of her twin brother. Claire has been affected by the three choices women have when faced with a crisis unwanted or unplanned pregnancy: she is adopted, has been affected by abortion and is a mother. She will share her story of how God continues to create beauty from the unexpected during the sixth annual event.

This year’s Acadiana Proudly Pro-Life Award winners, who will be honored during the dinner, are Dr. Michael and Mrs. Sandy Hindelang and the late John Stuart “Stu” Coleman Jr.

Dr. Michael and Mrs. Sandy Hindelang

The Hindelangs have been partners in their efforts in the pro-life cause for more than 30 years. They have both served actively on the Acadiana Right to Life Board of Directors and currently both serve on the Desormeaux Foundation’s Advisory Board. Dr. Hindelang is a retired OBGYN and has been very active on the local and statewide political efforts supporting the protection of the unborn. Mrs. Hindelang has been one of the key local contributors in the statewide efforts to protect the unborn.

Mr. Stu Coleman

Mr. Coleman passed away in 2012 but participated and was very supportive in the early days of the Acadiana Pro Life efforts. Stu provided numerous talks on behalf of the organization and participated in many of the marches both locally and in Washington, D.C. He was also a very active board member of the Acadiana Right to Life organization.
