NYT Report: Planned Parenthood’s Priority is Abortion

Earlier this month, the New York Times reported that Planned Parenthood is an organization in crisis after surveying their legal documents as well as conducting interviews with over 50 former and present staff members. The Times shocking exposé unleashed many of the enterprise’s secrets but none that were all that surprising.

A good synopsis of “Botched Care and Tired Staff: Planned Parenthood in Crisis” is simply that they continue to prioritize abortion at the detriment of their patients, employees, and the communities they allege to care so much about. Writing for the Times, Katie Benner affirms that “Planned Parenthood is synonymous with the fight to preserve abortion rights” but that their lack of resources for non-abortion purposes is” startling”.

Benner goes as far to admit a truth that leaders within Planned Parenthood have “repeatedly prioritized the fight for abortion rights over clinics because the political fight was fundamental to the organization’s ability to operate.”

This has led to employees experiencing enormous pressure to double their numbers to bring in more revenue: “Planned Parenthood of Greater New York expects clinics to see more than four patients an hour, and for appointments to last about 10 minutes, according to an email sent by management to clinic staff obtained by The Times.”

Benner also reported that clinics across the country are begging for supplies and that even in pro-abortion locations their funding is dwindling.

She highlights stories of women that have been injured at their facilities due to shoddy medical care and that employee turnover is at nearly 50%. Many employees cited they did not received adequate training for simple tasks like patient intake or blood draws, which increases the likelihood of bad patient outcomes for their clientele.

A former Planned Parenthood nurse out of Minnesota described Planned Parenthood’s operations like a “conveyor belt” while a former manager out of Ohio said patients felt like they were in a factory.

While it is certainly surprising that the Times published their findings on the front page of their paper, we have known for many years their bottom line is always abortion. Their most recent annual report revealed that they performed nearly 400, 000 abortions while collecting $699 million in tax-payer funding.
