Hi, my name is Jackson Picone. I am a student at Mississippi State University.

When it came time to find a job for the summer, I knew I wanted to do meaningful work. I had already been aware of Louisiana Right to Life through my high school and close friends, and I had wanted to go on the March for Life my senior year of high school, but I missed it. This left an aching to be involved that I was lucky to fulfill by applying for an internship here this summer.

I’m studying data science, so my goal was to do something related to data, code, and other statistic-related things. Luckily working with Right to Life, we’ve been able to solve this. I have a project I’m working on in the background, but in the foreground I have helped run the PULSE Leadership Institute, move offices, deliver items, paint walls, renovate a table, sort files, drive a van containing pro-life displays, and so much more.

I feel like each day is new in the office, a testament to our collective belief that life is beautiful. I am so excited for each day until my bittersweet departure back to college in August.

I’m pro-life because I believe each and every person deserves the opportunity to live and thrive. This internship is strengthening my conviction for life, grounding me in my faith, and forming me in ways I wouldn’t have expected. I’d like to thank my coworkers and fellow intern Grace for teaching me so much about the cause.
