Events Cancelled Due to COVID-19, But Work to Defend Life Continues

Restrictions due to COVID-19 have forced Louisiana Right to Life to cancel three events – two fund-raisers and a youth camp – that were planned for spring and summer months, but that has not stopped the organization from continuing its fight to defend life in Louisiana.

Bowties for Babies

Bowties for Babies: A Southern Style Soiree Benefiting Life was originally schedule for April then moved to May before the coronavirus outbreak changed our daily routines. An attempt was made to move the Baton Rouge-based event to September, but there were conflicts with other regularly scheduled events and fund-raisers for supporting organizations.

Bowties for Babies funds our Advertise for Life project, which aims to reach pregnant women through innovative advertising methods. Even during this unprecedented time of limited interaction and social distancing, it has been crucial that we continue the critical work of helping women in crisis pregnancy situations choose life for their babies. Just from January through May we confirmed 15 lives saved through the project’s largest advertising program, a Google ads campaign, which also resulted in 6,095 unique clicks to our pregnancy help websites and 619 phone calls to pregnancy centers or the pregnancy help hotline.

Thank you to our Bowties for Babies donors who continued to support the program despite the event’s cancellation! And you can help, too! You can learn more about this program and see results from 2019 here and make a donation by clicking the link below.

PULSE Leadership Institute

When it was announced a few weeks ago that Louisiana would not move into Phase 3 of the COVID-19 reopening as we all had hoped, the 2020 PULSE Leadership Institute, set for July 6-10 near Baton Rouge, had to be cancelled.

This annual weeklong pro-life training program will not be rescheduled because of time limitations during the summer months, but other youth training events for the fall are being discussed.

Please keep watching our website, ProLifePulseLA.com, and checking the E-Newsletter for events as they are scheduled.

La Vie Jubilee

The second annual La Vie Jubilee was scheduled for Aug. 14 in Mandeville, but this event also fell victim to COVID-19 limitations and uncertainties. The first La Vie Jubilee  held last August was a huge success, with donations going to fund pro-life education and advance the Love Life Amendment, which will be on the ballot Nov. 3.

Event chairwoman Celie Clark said: “We are certainly saddened that we will not be able to gather in person, but please know that our work to defend life continues every day. Your past support has been extremely important, and your continued support is crucial, especially as we work hard to pass the Love Life Amendment!

“As we shared last year, there will be a pro-life constitutional amendment on the Nov. 3 ballot. The passage of this amendment is essential to protecting life for generations to come! Once Roe v. Wade is overturned, this amendment will ensure every unborn baby in Louisiana is protected from abortion. But, for this to happen, we need your help!”

Much of the proceeds from this year’s La Vie Jubilee would have gone to help fund promotion of the amendment. If you’d like to make a financial donation to this worthy cause, you can click here to make a donation online. (Please note: Louisiana law requires that your name, address, and donation amount be listed in our Louisiana campaign finance reports. This donation is not tax-deductible.)

Clark also asks that those who had planned to attend La Vie Jubilee, as well as others around the state, pray daily for our citizens to vote “Yes” for the Love Life Amendment and to share information about the Love Life Amendment with everyone on your contact list.
